Holiday hours Wednesday, November 11

The Library will be open from 1 to 11 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day.

If you watched the Boston Bruins play over the weekend, you may have noticed the coaches wearing red flower pins on their lapels. Learn how poppies became a symbol of Veterans Day by reading In Flanders fields: the story of the poem by John McCrae. For an in-depth look at World War I, including a detailed timeline, see G.J. Meyer’s A world undone: the story of the Great War, 1914 to 1918.
