Join the Library in celebrating Read Across America!
Join the Wheelock College Library and Resource Center for our third annual Read Across America celebration, a national event that promotes the importance of reading in the lives of young children. The event will take place on Thursday, March 1st at the Campus Center.
From 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., get your picture taken under the Truffula Trees at our Lorax-themed photo booth.
From 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., over 50 children from a local preschool will gather in the Campus Center for Dr. Seuss story time. Local NECN news anchor and Wheelock College alumnus and instructor, Steve Aveson, will help kick-start the event with a special reading. Come and read a favorite Dr. Seuss book to a small group (about 6-8 children) of our visitors. Coffee will be provided! Interested volunteers can contact Ashley Peterson, apeterson@wheelock.edu, for more information.
From 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., participate in our lunchtime trivia challenge in the Dining Room and put your Seuss smarts to the test. Teams of four or fewer people can participate, and the winners get $15 Amazon gift cards!
Throughout the day, check out the Seuss-inspired menu items in the Dining Room.
This is the third year that the Library is holding this event and it gets better every year. It has always been a lot of fun so please come out and join us. The support of the Wheelock community will help make a positive impact on literacy in the lives of young children!
