Administrative/Biographical History
Lucy Wheelock founded the Wheelock Kindergarten Training School in Boston, Mass., in 1888. When the College was incorporated in 1939, the Board of Trustees created new faculty positions, including that of Ruth Burge as the first Dean of Residence. Throughout its history, many individuals have served in constantly evolving leadership roles as Officers of the College. The position of Dean of Studies, assumed by Marcia Folsom, was created in 1969. Other positions included in this collection include Academic Dean, Dean of Students, Dean of Graduate Studies, Undergraduate Dean, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Vice President of Enrollment Management and Admissions.
