Administrative/Biographical History
Jackie L. Jenkins-Scott is the thirteenth President of Wheelock College. Jenkins-Scott received a B.S. Degree from Eastern Michigan University, a Masters of Social Work from Boston University School of Social Work, and did a Post Graduate Research Fellowship at Radcliffe College. She was awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Education from Wheelock in 2003, when she served as the Commencement speaker. She also holds Honorary Doctorate Degrees from Northeastern University, Bentley College, Mount Ida College, and Suffolk University. From 1983 until 2004, Jenkins-Scott served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Dimock Community Health Center in Roxbury, Massachusetts. Prior to her position with Dimock, Jenkins-Scott served as Director of the Roxbury Court Clinic from 1977 to 1983 and held several positions with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, Department of Public Health from 1973 – 1977. Jenkins-Scott has served on many civic and community boards, including the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers and the Kennedy Library Foundation and Museum. Her professional activities also include serving on the Board of Trustees at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center and Zoo New England, and on the Board of Directors of the Tufts Health Plan. She was appointed to the City of Boston’s Public Health Commission by Mayor Menino in 1999. She has received numerous awards and citations including the 2004 Pinnacle Lifetime Achievement Award from the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and the 2004 Alumni Award from Boston University.
