Series I: Biographical
Contains articles and clippings about the life of Marjorie Bakken.
Series II: Images
Contains photographs and photocopies of photographs of Bakken taken at Wheelock College. Most Marjorie Bakken photographs located in the photograph collection have been relocated to this series.
Series III: Professional Work
Documents Bakken’s professional work. Contains information relating to Bakken's work within the educational community, and speeches and addresses given by Bakken. The series is divided into three subseries:
Subseries 1: Professional Affiliations and Activities
Documents the professional affiliations, activities, and awards of Marjorie Bakken. Includes the Mayor’s Task Force on After-School Time report, May 2000, as well as citations from the City of Boston.
Subseries 2: Writings and Lectures
Contains Bakken’s writings and lectures. These consist of published writings, lectures, addresses and speeches, all arranged chronologically. The speeches and lectures are organized within each year into categories of type of speech, including: alumni, students, open houses, all-college, parents and family, faculty staff and trustees, honorary degrees, donors, and miscellaneous. This subseries also includes a list of speeches from 1994 on file in the Office of the President. Subseries 3: Wheelock College Administrative
Documents some of Bakken’s work at Wheelock College. It includes memoranda concerning her appointment as President as well as inaugural invitations, programs and the inaugural address. You will also find memoranda from Bakken and the draft of the 1992/93 Strategic Planning Report.
